Powerful Parent Seminar: Foundation Building:Self-Esteem

Are you worried that your kid is not developing the key elements of self-confidence?

Is it possible to actually do all the stuff you want to do as a parent, without feeling even more busy and overwhelmed?

You hear a lot about the basic skills kids develop as they grow up. You watch other parents; you read books; you try different strategies to help your kid. But, your kid is not as confident as you want them to be. What can you do to help them?

After struggling and exploring with thousands of young people over the last decade, I’ve discovered what helps them feel confident:

  1. Being known
    1. Everyone’s brain learns differently. Knowing how your kids brain learns (and does not learn) will make everyone’s life easier.
  2. A home base
    1. Kids work hard and take big risks in their world. There are some very specific ways to help them relax, feel safe, and learn from their experiences.
  3. Acknowledgement
    1. The right kind of acknowledgement feels great and is a tremendous boost to confidence.

When you help your kid feel known, provide a home base, and offer sincere acknowledgements that foundational confidence you want for your kid will show up. Finally, finally your kid, will grow their self-esteem, and you might just feel some accomplishment in your parenting.
